Just the Other Day

Great use of a hook! No doubt about the name, and anyone over 50 can relate. The structure is good, and with the right music, would make a good song for a musical.

2nd Place Mike Hyden
Tulsa, OK

Never Been Better Street
A happy tune that begs to be sung, danced to, get a groove on.  Again, good hook, very catchy, and well written.  If it’s not true, it otta be!

Where are my Car Keys?
Pretty good country tune, and gets you listening for what happens next. The writer not only has a hook that sticks, but does a nice wrap up that is sweet and satisfying.
Honorable Mention Teresa Proctor
Omaha, NE
One More Drink
From the directions of the lyric, probably a rock song that spirals downward and pulls you along – “Just hold me dear and hang on tight. We’ll try to make it through one more night.”  The writer obviously hears music that pulls the lyrics out beyond the printed sheet.
Honorable Mention Barbara Seiler,
Frisco, TX
One Song Sally
A story song that never quite tells the story Sally sings.  Well written, but never makes the reader care about Sally.
